THE WC – GEOGRAPHY OF IDEAS – PART 1

Where do great ideas occur? It’s always in places that our minds are set free from daily live. In those places where our minds are truly set free. Today part one of an geographic research that studies the places and spaces of great ideas!

There’s only one place, that in all it’s simplicity only needs two letters to make itself known all over the world. These letters are WC. It is, especially for most men, a very comforting place though hardly any visitor ever talks about his experiences. But the visits are often short but fruitful. The toilet facilitates our only real everyday escape from life.

One of my best friends is one of the few realy outspoken toiletlovers! When I shot a few family whishes on video for his wedding, his mother urged me to take a shot of their toilet as well. “The time he must have spend in there” she grunted with an air of nostalgia.

Back to my story. The toilet is THE place for the birth of new ideas and insights. When you empty your bowels, vacancies arise in your head. It makes you see things more clearly and lets burdens disappear.
I’d like to end with some do’s and don’ts. Don’t call on the toilet or let work influence your session in any way. It blocks your mind to set free from reality (and it’s filthy!). Do’s: make sure you write down everything that has crossed your mind on the toilet. Don’t write during the session (It’s filthy!).
